To all AMA Members,
This message is simply informational. The previous post by the AMA AVP says that the San Juan field is shut down. That information is completely inaccurate. This past weekend, we had many members flying, and the current administration is working diligently to keep the fire burning.
If you are a former member, we would love to have you back in this great sport. I am thankful for the many hard working Winter Texans and local members who are all coming together in an effort to make this club great again. Please come to our monthly club meeting on Monday, Feb. 07, 2011. We meet at Rudy's BBQ on Nolana and Hy. 281. We gather at 6:00PM to eat and the meeting starts at 7:00 PM. The Winter Texans are flying everyday when the weather is nice. Hope to see you soon!!!!

Stewart Road is now being resurfaced. Heavy equipment is being used to remove the old paving and trucks are there to haul the old away. Road closed signs are up in places but one lane will remain open during the construction process. We do have access to the field and we have been flying every day that the weather permits. Come one come all!!!! Our next meeting is Feb 7th at Rudys BBQ on Nolana & expressway 281. 7:00 PM. Come early to eat and visit.

Sunday was absolutely great. We had many flyers and spectators. I'm happy to see several local guys who used to be members returning. It is sad to say that many of them were previously turned off by past problems and false information. I am thankful that the past is behind us, and we will move forward. They have all emailed me this morning saying that they will return. Let's keep the fire going. Next year, we will try and get the airshow back in Weslaco. I also want to mention that I will have a detailed report of an audit I conducted for all club checks that were written in 2010. I will have copies available for all members to see. (I report, you decide.) Stewart road is accessible to the South. It takes a detour either East or West at Hall Acres to reach the expressway on the return trip. Thanks to all for a great time of flying and socializing yesterday.

:)I am a Winter Texan and have been a member of Tejas R/C club for 7 years. I can't thank enough the members that are working so hard to keep the club together. Last Sunday, shows what can be done, if we all work for the future of the club and forget the past. Let's show our support to the new elected club officers by attending this month's meeting at Rudys this coming Monday, February 7th.

Great day at the field today. I counted thirteen members all flying and many had two or more planes. The wind was light, the sun was bright, and the bull sh## was deep. One guy even flew a pink plane. Many of us will be at the field again tomorrow weather permitting. Come out and join us.

This past monday a group of the winter Texans turn out to complete the gate project that Bert Hahn had installed last year. We installed mesh type fence on both sides and topped it with barb wire. We also repaired the barb wire fence by the road that is hooked to the street gate. It was a fun time but most every one got bloody before we finished. We want to thank Richard Ware for raising the money and getting the rest of us involved in the project. Great job Richard. We may want to continue using the old gate unless we have a special event or other reason or need for the set back new gate. We don't want to give anyone a place to dump their trash. Gene

Another great day at the field. The weather and wind have been ideal for flying. The parking lot was full and the sky was crowded. We had three visitors that have an interest in joining the club next year when they return to the valley for the winter. We are growing and regaining our strength. This club will live on!!
