Many of the Tejas RC membership currently in the Rio Grande Valley area have no doubt been noticing all the beautiful (gorgeous ??) flying weather we have been enjoying in the months of October, November and now December..save for a few weak and wimpering cool fronts that have meandered thru our area to drop the high humidity percentages and the overly warm temperature to a more tolerable & comfortable level.
With the San Juan flying site shut down many Tejas members have been visiting and flying with other clubs in the Valley and enjoying the comeraderie and association with other area modelers. Strangely, the Rio Grande Flyer's very popular Penitas flying site was absent of flying activity the first two weekends in December and just a few Tejas members were the only flyers present on site---several wondered where were the RGF bunch ?? Maybe the football playoffs and basketball games on TV were having a more powerful magnetic effect on them and all the beautiful flying weather may have been temporarily neglected.
I shall be out and about visiting other modelers in the Rio Grande Valley area these next several weeks...hopefully some of you reading this will be among those I will be visiting.
NOTICE:
There is a new modeling group now emerging in the Weslaco area...they mainly fly Control Line airplanes. The group is made up of several adults and a small group of Junior high and High school boys. Their leader & group "spark-plug" is Fr. Rich Speers, a local church lay minister... they fly mainly weekends at the Weslaco City Park south of town, they are a great bunch of guys. Any of you who used to fly CL planes or have been interested in trying out the sport, Rich says, "Come On, The More The Merrier !!" ;D
